The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA, الهيئة العامة للرقابة المالية) is the Egyptian government body responsible for regulating and supervising non-banking financial markets and instruments. This includes investment funds (money market, equity, bond), brokerage firms, mortgage finance, financial leasing, microfinance, and insurance.
The FRA is distinct from the CBE (which regulates banks). If a product is offered by a brokerage or fund manager rather than a bank, it falls under FRA jurisdiction. All investment funds distributed in Egypt must be licensed by the FRA, which sets disclosure requirements, management standards, and investor protection rules.
